[... Honestly though, he'd understand if Azul told him to screw off.]
no subject
[That's not a buzz off, at least.]
no subject
[He can already feel his composure slipping, even though he was trying to keep it together... damn it.]
Plus... I owe you an apology.
no subject
[If the twins let him this far back, they must be okay with this.]

He does come closer, but it's... hesitant and uncertain. Azul said he could come in, but... He's unsure how long he'll actually be welcome.
As he approaches, it becomes readily apparent that Vert's not bothering with his usual stoic and cold appearance--for once, his nerves and worry are practically written on his face and he's visibly sleep-deprived. He fiddles with a small box of crab cakes in his hands for a moment or two before holding it out, averting his eyes.]
... Here. I remember you liking these when we were kids, and I dunno if you still do, but... Mmph. I hope they turned out alright, at least.
[He hasn't made them in a while, for one thing, and he hasn't seen Azul touch anything fried since getting here, on the occasions where he hadn't been able to avoid his cousin.]
no subject
[Because he is eying that box like a man in a desert eyes water.]
no subject
... Wouldn't have felt right if I didn't make them myself.
no subject
[Grabby hands!]
Jade's forbidden me from sticking to my diet anyway.

His smile's quick to drop, though, as pieces start clicking into place. Seven, he really was an idiot...]
no subject
I'll regret this later, but for now...
no subject
Enjoy.

God, I forgot how good a cook you actually are.

no subject
Um, actually...
no subject
Hm?
no subject
[And that gets Vert looking away again as he rubs at one of his arms.]
no subject
What? Since when?
no subject
[Aaaaaand excuse him while he internally dies on the spot for the way his voice wavered at the end of that sentence.]

... The effect is almost undoubtedly lessened by the fact that he's obviously on the verge of tears.]
It's not pity! It's... [He lets out a soft, frustrated noise as he runs a hand through his hair and looks away again.] I withdrew because of one stupid fight when we were kids and I... I'm sorry I left you all alone like that. I should've tried to stick around, but I was hurt and I-- I thought you hated me.
no subject
[Welp. At least it's past tense?]
You've always been the prettier one, the more athletic one, the one who doesn't have to be on diets and count calories just to look normal, the one who never cried when we were kids.
[That modifier is obviously needed since...Vert is near tears? That's weird.]
And then you come over, start trying to get into my pot, talking about how the boy you liked complimented your tentacles when he was the boy I liked and he'd just insulted my tentacles and I was trying to eat my feelings so I wouldn't cry and get ink everywhere. Again. Of course I hated you.
[Azul pauses, trying to calm down before he starts having another issue with blot. That's apparently a risk, right now.]
no subject
You actually thought I liked that guy?!

... All this grief over a misunderstanding...
